Our Philosophy

Samskaara comes from the Sanskrit words "sam" meaning "totality" and "akara" referring to "form" or "personality." As such, our school is a place where the whole child has the freedom to develop. The child is already a thinking, feeling, creative being, not a blank slate on which we are supposed to write. In this model, the goal of the teacher is to kindle an interest in learning and a love for the world around us. From there, learning happens by leaps and bounds.

Self-directed learning is at the heart of Samskaara's philosophy. The knowledge base in modern times is simply too great to rely on the drilling and rote memorization methods of the past. Instead, we need to teach children to ask the right questions and then go after the answers themselves. Active learning methods, a high level of participation, and a focus on intrinsic motivation are keys to Samskaara's success.

Here Are Some Practical Ways That Our Philosophy Is Expressed In School:-

❖  Examinations at the lower elementary level
There is a time and place for exam prep but we strongly believe that children need to lay a foundation for learning that is based on their delight in the world around them and not performance. Young children need not compare themselves to others or worry about performance benchmarks. Let them learn for the joy of it.

❖  No corrections in red ink
The focus is on finding the answer, not on the answer itself. Children naturally strive to perfect their work—this was the great discovery of Maria Montessori. Harsh correction methods are completely unnecessary.

❖  Flexible classrooms
Visit our school and you will find desks and chairs in various configurations. The traditional rows of seating and the blackboard at front and center make the teacher the center of the classroom.
